From our own growing experiences the following sun lovers are considered as hardy, providing they are given lots of sunshine, ventilation and good drainage.
A vibrant selection of 10 Delosperma varieties bursting with daisy-like flowers throughout summer. These hardy succulents plants thrive in sunny, free-draining spots and provide brilliant long-lasting colour.
Attractive to butterflies. An easy to grow and hardy, drought tolerant plant with fleshy, apple green leaves. Brightly coloured flowers with narrow petals from late spring into autumn. Prefers a hot,sunny dry well drained soils.
A beautiful hardy succulent with a mat spreading habit of vibrant daisy like bright yellow flowers with a white centre from early summer until late autumn. Prefers a hot, sunny, dry spot in well drained soil. Attractive to butterflies.
Tight compact alpine with glossy succulent leaves, smothered with bright yellow flowers in summer. Hardy given well drained soil and lots of wind and light, a good trough plant.
Its common name Hardy Ice Plant makes it sound like a typical alpine plant. Prostrate carpets of silvery succulent leaves & masses of relatively large, intensely magenta flowers.
Yellowish-green succulent foliage and bright yellow flowers. Low spreading, prostate carpets to 5cm, will also cascade down a wall and over large stones / boulders. Also makes a very good show plant in a shallow clay pan.
A recent new introduction raised from seed collected by Ron McBeath in South Africa; similar to D. congesta but better, earlier to flower and a richer yellow. This always proves to be a popular plant (thank you Ron) :-)
