A small genus of South American plants that do best in a sunny, well drained position flowering from March to May. The bulbs quickly multiply, so clumps should be divided every 3 or 4 years.
Very scented. Stunning celandine yellow flowers blooming from early morning to mid afternoon, from late spring to early summer, alpine house or cold frame, 5cm. Naturally small bulbs.
The original plant was raised from seed off Rolf Fiedler by Tony Hall at Kew, Jessie is similar to its parent but with a much more intense deeper blue.
A much larger and superior flowering form compared with I. uniflorum 'Album', large bright white flowers on 20cm tall stems from early March onwards throughout spring, grey-green leaves.
Beautiful deep pink flowers, whiter towards centre. An excellent plant that we originally obtained in the early 1990s from Elizabeth Strangmans wonderful Washfield Nursery.
