Privacy Notice
Below are the details of how Pottertons Nursery deal with your personal information both on, and offline. Thank you for taking the time to read our Privacy Notice.
Introduction:
As a business in the UK, Pottertons Nursery is subject to the DPA (The Data Protection Act of 1998), and thus, we take every step possible to protect your privacy.
Your Personal Details, and the Business as a Whole
We will never sell, trade or distribute ANY of your personal details to any third party under ANY circumstances. When you order from us, we will keep a record of your name and address, and you will automatically be added to our PAPER mailing list. You will only ever receive catalogues from Pottertons Nursery. If you wish to opt out of this, please make a note to that effect on your order, whether this be online, or by any other method. Your name and address details are stored electronically on a machine which is isolated from the internet. Any backups are stored securely. If you are not happy with this, we are more than happy to remove your details, please contact the nursery.
Credit Card or Payment Details
In accordance with the DPA, we only hold this information until it is needed, after which it will be destroyed. For most orders, this will be at the time payment is taken (Please note that for Bulb orders, we only take payment when the order is ready for dispatch).
The Internet & The Website
This website is state of the art. Any information submitted on it is treated with the same level of security as any other method of submission. As extra precautions for the internet, all Credit card, or payment details are submitted through an industry standard 256Bit SSL encrypted connection, this information is then encrypted, using a 13 Aspect encryption algorythm before we temporarily store it, before it can be transferred into our main ordering system. Sensitive encrypted information is removed from the database as soon as we transfer the order to the main system (usually within 48 hours). The location where your sensitive information was saved is then overwritten with random data to ensure the sector can no longer be read or recovered.
Please Note:
Please note that however secure we make our website, we cannot guarantee the security of your local internet connection, or your local machine. We STRONGLY recommend that you have antivirus software running, along with anti adware, and anti spyware software. We also recommend that you have at minimum the Windows Firewall enabled. This combination will give you the highest level of Local security possible. The use of shared machines, open Wi-Fi networks, or Proxy servers to access this site is not recommended.
