Welcome to Pottertons Nursery

GREETINGS. We are a traditional family run specialist nursery which grows and supplies an extensive selection of Alpines, Dwarf Bulbs and Woodland plants by Mail Order or at the many horticultural shows and lectures we attend throughout the UK & Europe or direct to customers from our nursery located in Lincolnshire, England.
The nursery was opened in 1971 and since then we have conducted our mail order business through a printed, fully descriptive catalogue in paper format, although the relatively recent boom in internet use has resulted in an increasing proportion of orders been taken through this web site. If you live in the UK and require a copy of our catalogue please send 6 x first class stamps with your address to the nursery.
Our NEW 2010 catalogues are now included on this site and orders may be made using the secure on-line ordering systems. If you require any advice or assistance please contact the nursery by e-mail and you will receive a prompt reply usually within 24 hours. We can supply our full range to customers throughout the UK & Europe, but a reduced range to customers elsewhere. See Terms of Business rest of the world under Business info for further details.
The nursery is open to visitors throughout the year from February to end of October, Tuesday to Sunday from 10.00am till 4.00pm, open also on Bank Holiday Mondays. Between November and January we are open by appointment only. Our sales area is always kept well stocked with an extensive selection of alpines, rockery plants, bulbs and woodland plants.
Expert, friendly advice and assistance is offered if required during your visit and you may also enjoy walking around our extensively planted, landscaped gardens which includes large rockeries, raised walls, troughs, island beds and woodland garden.

Adonis amurensis 'Pleniflora'
A stunning double flower, bands of yellow/green/yellow petals in spring, 25cm. A quite superb showy woodland plant from Japan, crowded clumps of flower buds and immature leaves push up through the ground in very early spring and develop into a most marvelous plant with deeply segmented leaves. They require a rich cool acid soil that remains damp throughout the year, positioned in light dappled shade. A long lived plant that will grow quite large once established, best divided every 4-5 years in late winter.
