CYCLAMEN

Unless otherwise stated those offered are regarded as generally UK hardy, requiring good drainage and preferably a soil rich in leaf mould, planted in dappled shade or north facing situation. They are long lived & will self seed to form small colonies. All offered are seed raised, flowering sized, at least 5 years old and sold as growing plants. Tubers should be planted approximately 2cm deep. Supplied September to October.

Cyclamen alpinum

Attractive round marbled patterned leaves with pink to deep carmine propeller-shaped flowers in spring. Until recently named C. trochopteranthum - at least most of us can spell and pronounce alpinum.

Cyclamen cyprium

A rarely offered species with white flowers lightly scented in Autumn, red markings on the nose and distinct round silver speckled leaves. Native to woodland mountainous areas in Cyprus which can make it susceptible to hard frost in colder regions, here it should be given protection in winter.

Large leaves ivy-shaped with a range of markings, September to October flowering, generally pink but can occasionally be white. These are home grown, seed raised plants. Very hardy, ideally suited to planting under deciduous trees, light dappled shade - long lived.
